Mike Pence just got this surprising news about his political future

Mike Pence left Washington, D.C. with uncertain political prospects.

Many in the establishment sneered at him for defending Trump while many Trump supporters felt betrayed.

But now Mike Pence just got this surprising news about his political future.

If Donald Trump does not run for President in 2024 then Mike Pence certainly will.

The open question is what is Mike Pence’s political viability?

Pence left Washington, D.C. without much of a political base.

However, a new poll from Echelon Insights showed Mike Pence first in a hypothetical GOP primary race with 21 percent.

Respondents listed Texas Senator Ted Cruz and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis finished second and third in this poll with eight and ten percent respectively.

Mediaite reports, “While 55 percent of Republican-leaning voters say they’d vote for Trump if the Republican primaries were being held today, respondents were also asked who they’d vote for if the former president chose not to run again. Texas Senator Ted Cruz and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis both seem to be possible contenders for 2024, but former Vice President Mike Pence more than doubles them both with a stable hold on 21 percent of the vote.”

Mike Pence’s 21 percent is likely due to name recognition built up over the four years of Donald Trump’s presidency.

But it does mean, at least in the early going of the 2024 GOP Presidential primary, Mike Pence will enter in the top tier of candidates.

The question for Pence is if he can win over the skeptics in the establishment and the base who question his relationship with Donald Trump.

If Donald Trump doesn’t run in 2024, the GOP nomination may be the most wide open in the party’s history.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ star is on the rise as the Sunshine State rejected mask mandates and lockdowns and proved the COVID hysterics wrong.

But at least to start Mike Pence will be right there in the top tier.
