Lara Trump Blasted Eric Swalwell After He Made One Insane Demand About Trump’s Ballroom

Democrats melted down over President Trump building the White House ballroom.

One California Congressman made an absurd demand that left jaws on the floor.

And Lara Trump blasted Eric Swalwell after he made one insane demand about Trump’s ballroom.

Lara Trump calls out Swalwell’s “ridiculous” pledge demand

Lara Trump didn’t mince words when California Congressman Eric Swalwell declared that any Democrat hoping to run for President in 2028 must pledge to demolish Trump’s White House ballroom on day one.

“It’s ridiculous… we all know that. And everybody should be happy about this [the ballroom],” Trump said during her Monday appearance on Fox & Friends First. “But of course, that’s Eric Swalwell…”¹

The RNC co-chair’s dismissive tone captured exactly what millions of Americans think about Swalwell’s latest stunt.

Swalwell posted his demand on X over the weekend, writing: “Don’t even think of seeking the Democratic nomination for president unless you pledge to take a wrecking ball to the Trump Ballroom on DAY ONE.”²

The California Democrat went on to say he’d accept renaming it the “Barack Obama Ballroom” but insisted Trump’s “monument to corruption will not stand.”³

Lara Trump zeroed in on the absurdity of Democrats manufacturing outrage over a privately-funded project that will benefit future administrations.

“The only thing I’ll disagree with [The Washington Post] on is that I don’t know when we’re going to see another Democrat as president, if this is the way the Democrats are behaving about a beautiful renovation that everyone should be able to enjoy that was long overdue and really necessary at the White House,” Trump stated.⁴

Lara Trump highlights Democrat hypocrisy

Trump’s 90,000-square-foot ballroom is being built where the East Wing once stood and will seat up to 999 guests for state dinners and official functions.⁵

The entire $300 million project is privately funded by Trump and donors, with zero taxpayer dollars involved.⁶

Lara Trump pointed out that even The Washington Post editorial board defended the project, supporting Trump’s direct approach to completing construction quickly.⁷

For decades, Presidents complained about hosting world leaders in expensive tents on the White House lawn or cramming state dinners into the 200-person capacity East Room.

“That’s amazing… they’re exactly right,” Lara Trump said about the Post’s defense of the ballroom.⁸

She emphasized that Democrats should be celebrating a long-overdue upgrade that future Presidents from both parties will use.

Instead, Hillary Clinton jumped on social media claiming Trump was “destroying” the “People’s House.”⁹

Her daughter Chelsea wrote an entire USA Today op-ed lamenting Trump’s “disregard for history.”¹⁰

The Clintons lecturing anyone about respecting the White House struck Lara Trump and many Americans as absurd.

When Bill and Hillary left in 2001, they attempted to take $190,000 worth of furniture, china, and other items before being forced to return them.¹¹

White House staff reported finding “W” keys removed from keyboards after the Clintons departed.¹²

Every President has modernized the White House

Lara Trump’s broader point cut through all the manufactured Democrat outrage.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt backed up Trump’s argument, noting that “nearly every single president who has lived in this beautiful White House behind me has made modernizations and renovations of their own.”¹³

Franklin D. Roosevelt built the current East Wing in 1942, primarily to cover an underground bunker during World War II.¹⁴

At the time, Republicans criticized FDR’s wartime construction as wasteful and accused him of using the project to bolster his image.¹⁵

Theodore Roosevelt built the West Wing in 1902, replacing expansive greenhouses.¹⁶

William Howard Taft created the first Oval Office in 1909.¹⁷

Harry Truman completely gutted the White House in 1948, leaving only the exterior walls standing.¹⁸

But Democrats want voters to believe Trump adding a ballroom crosses some sacred line.

Lara Trump’s response captured why this resonates with voters who rejected Democrat hysteria in 2024.

Swalwell’s demand that 2028 candidates pledge to demolish the ballroom shows Democrats learned nothing from their election losses.

Constitutional law professor Jonathan Turley called out Swalwell’s recklessness, writing: “Just when you thought that our political dialogue could not become more reckless. Rep. Eric Swalwell demanded a litmus test for any Democratic presidential nominee: you must pledge to bulldoze the $350 million Trump ballroom.”¹⁹

Conservative commentators joked that Democrats suffer from “BDS” – Ballroom Derangement Syndrome.²⁰

Lara Trump nailed exactly why Swalwell’s pledge demand will backfire on Democrats.

Voters want leaders focused on their problems, not tearing down a privately-funded ballroom that will serve the country for generations.

That’s why Trump won in a landslide in 2024.

And that’s why Lara Trump is confident Democrats won’t see the White House again anytime soon if this is how they behave.
