Kamala Harris is terrified over what this jaw dropping poll shows about Michelle Obama
There is a very real chance Joe Biden will not run for President in 2024.
Everyone assumes that means the nomination is Kamala Harris’ for the taking.
But Kamala Harris is terrified over what this jaw dropping poll shows about Michelle Obama.
Despite serving as Vice President, Kamala Harris is not the overwhelming favorite of Democrat voters in a hypothetical 2024 Presidential primary.
A new Hill/HarrisX poll found that just 13 percent of Democrats list Kamala Harris as their top choice should Joe Biden not seek re-election, with Michelle Obama right on her tail with 10 percent.
The New York Post reports:
Vice President Kamala Harris and former first lady Michelle Obama are the top two picks for the Democratic presidential nomination if President Biden decides not to seek re-election in 2024, according to a survey.
Harris leads all potential candidates with 13 percent of support from voters, while Obama came in a close second with 10 percent, according to the Hill-HarrisX poll.
Other likely candidates included Sens. Bernie Sanders of Vermont, Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, Cory Booker of New Jersey, former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and former 2020 presidential candidate Andrew Yang.
Michelle Obama has long stated her opposition to seeking political office.
But early Presidential primary polls are essentially a test of name identification.
Michelle Obama is a stand-in as the best-known Democrat for a chunk of the Democrat Party that believes Kamala Harris cannot win a general election.
Right now, Kamala Harris’ approval rating is just 28 percent.
That makes Harris a historically unpopular Vice President.
Democrats are nervous about Kamala Harris’ Presidential prospects for good reason.
The fact that Michelle Obama rates so highly in a poll of Democrat voters is a sign of just how weak the sitting Vice President’s political standing really is.
