Joe Biden’s candidacy is hanging on by a fingernail.

But even he realized he couldn’t hang on for much longer.

And Joe Biden had this secret discussion about dropping out of the race.

Joe Biden begins to accept reality

President Joe Biden, First Lady Jill Biden, and Hunter Biden are all determined to press forward in this campaign.

But for the first time, a hint of doubt leaked out of the Biden family.

The New York Times reported Joe Biden told a close advisor that he knows his campaign may be past the point of no return.

“President Biden has told a key ally that he knows he may not be able to salvage his candidacy if he cannot convince the public in the coming days that he is up for the job after a disastrous debate performance last week,” the Times reported.

Biden told his ally that he knows his two campaign stops in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin as well as a recorded interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos are a make-or-break moment for not just his candidacy, but his Presidency as well.

“The president, who the ally emphasized is still deeply in the fight for re-election, understands that his next few appearances heading into the holiday weekend — including an interview scheduled for Friday with George Stephanopoulos of ABC News and campaign stops in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin — must go well,” the Times report continued.

Post-debate polls show movement to Trump

Most national polls found a two-point shift in the race in former President Donald Trump’s favor.

A CBS poll showed Trump gaining one point nationally by four points in the battleground states.

That was in line with polling circulated by the firm OpenLabs.

Their survey found that Biden fell about half a point in the national race.

But he dropped two points in the swing states which put Trump in the lead in New Hampshire, New Mexico, and Maine.

Deep blue Colorado was now in play according to this data.

Even someone as diminished as Joe Biden knows he has through the weekend to pull the nose up.

If Biden turns in a tepid performance on the campaign trail or bombs his interview with George Stephanopoulos, then he won’t just have to step out of the 2024 race.

He will have to resign from the Presidency.

Vice President Kamala Harris would then take over.

Democrats hoped to avoid this eventuality because if they thought Harris was capable of carrying their banner in the fall then Biden would have stepped aside sooner.
