Jerry Nadler left every Democrat seeing red with this huge impeachment mistake
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler was a controversial addition to the House Impeachment Manager team.
Nadler is an obnoxious partisan who can’t help himself when the camera light turns on.
And now Jerry Nadler left every Democrat seeing red with this huge impeachment mistake.
Democrats knew Nadler is a liability.
That’s why on day one of the Senate impeachment trial, Democrats stashed Nadler until the wee hours of the morning.
Democrats finally let Nadler speak after midnight hoping everyone would be too exhausted to notice any blunders.
But that was not the case.
Nadler infuriated Republicans by accusing GOP Senators of engaging in a cover up to block subpoenaing new witnesses until after oral arguments and a period for Senators to ask written questions.
“I see a lot of senators voting for a cover-up, voting to deny witnesses. An absolutely indefensible vote, obviously a treacherous vote,” Nadler ranted.
Democrats’ goal of persuading four GOP Senators to break ranks and vote for new witness testimony suffered a blow after Nadler’s false and partisan attack.
“If the Democrats are smart, they won’t put Jerry Nadler on the field again,” Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson told reporters. “He was so out of line. It’s offensive accusing us of a cover-up.”
“To my Democratic colleagues, you can say what you want about me, but I’m covering up nothing,” South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham added. “I’m exposing your hatred of the president.”
Nadler also caused a blow-up when he baselessly accused the President’s lawyers of “lying.”
That led to White House counsel Pat Cippollone demanding Nadler apologize to the President of the United States and his family.
Chief Justice John Roberts sensed matters were getting out of hand and reprimanded both sides – even though the Democrats were the ones that crossed the line – for uncivil conduct.
Nadler’s disastrous performance turned the atmosphere in the Senate chamber toxic and may have extinguished Democrats’ hopes to persuade RINO Republicans to turn on Trump and vote for new witness testimony.
