Hilton Dropped The Hammer On Minnesota Hotel That Thought It Could Get Revenge on ICE

A Minnesota hotel thought it could pick and choose which federal agents get rooms.

The franchisee learned that some battles aren't worth fighting.

And Hilton dropped the hammer on one Minnesota hotel that thought it could get revenge on ICE agents.

Hampton Inn Lakeville Cancels ICE Agent Reservations

The Department of Homeland Security posted screenshots Monday showing a Minneapolis-area Hilton property refusing service to federal immigration agents.

"We are not allowing any ICE or immigration agents to stay at our property," the Hampton Inn Lakeville wrote in an email to DHS officers.

The hotel didn't stop there.

Staff went through existing reservations looking for government bookings and started canceling them.

"After further investigation online, we have found information about immigration work connected to your name, and we will be canceling your reservation," another email read.

DHS agents were in Minneapolis conducting Operation Metro Surge – rounding up illegal aliens after massive fraud schemes were uncovered.

The Hampton Inn decided to make a political statement by discriminating against federal law enforcement.

Big mistake.

Nick Sortor Catches Hotel In Massive Lie

Hilton corporate initially released a statement saying they'd contacted the hotel's ownership company, Everpeak Hospitality.

Everpeak claimed they'd fixed the problem and apologized.

"We are committed to welcoming all guests and operating in accordance with brand standards," Everpeak's statement read.

Independent journalist Nick Sortor decided to test that claim Monday night.

He walked into the Hampton Inn Lakeville with cameras rolling and asked to book rooms for DHS agents.

The front desk clerk told him the ban was still in effect.

Sortor knew there were 10 rooms available – he'd checked online before going in.

The clerk confirmed he'd just spoken with ownership and nothing had changed.

Everpeak's apology was a complete lie.

The hotel was still discriminating against ICE agents while claiming publicly they'd fixed the problem.

Hilton Corporate Terminates Franchise Agreement

Within hours of Sortor's video going viral, Hilton corporate announced they were removing the Hampton Inn from their system.

"The independent hotel owner had assured us that they had fixed the problem," Hilton's statement read.

"A recent video clearly raises concerns that they are not meeting our standards and values."

"As such, we are taking immediate action to remove this hotel from our systems."

The hotel lost its Hilton branding, reservation system access, and corporate support.

All because ownership thought they could lie to corporate while continuing to discriminate against federal agents.

What This Means For Companies Facing Leftist Pressure

The Minneapolis hotel made a calculated bet that went horribly wrong.

Protesters had been gathering outside hotels housing ICE agents during Operation Metro Surge.

The Radisson Blu at Mall of America and Homewood Suites in Edina both faced loud nighttime demonstrations.

The Hampton Inn Lakeville apparently decided appeasing left-wing activists was worth more than serving federal law enforcement.

They were wrong on every level.

First, they violated Hilton's non-discrimination policies.

Hotels serving the public can't refuse service based on customers' jobs – especially when those customers are federal agents enforcing immigration law.

Second, they lied about fixing the problem.

That destroyed any chance they had of working things out with corporate.

Third, they underestimated how quickly the truth would come out.

Nick Sortor walked in with cameras and exposed their lie in real time.

The video got millions of views within hours.

Hilton had no choice but to act decisively.

Trump Administration Watching Corporate Response

President Trump has made it clear companies need to choose sides on immigration enforcement.

Minneapolis has become ground zero for that battle.

ICE agents flooded the Twin Cities after discovering billions in Medicaid fraud schemes.

Hotels either accommodate the agents doing that work or they don't.

The Hampton Inn Lakeville chose poorly.

Now they're stuck with a property that can't use the Hilton name.

Their online presence disappeared from Hilton's reservation system.

Corporate support vanished.

All the infrastructure that comes with being a major hotel franchise – gone.

The owner thought pandering to protesters would be the safe play.

Instead, they learned that discriminating against federal law enforcement comes with consequences corporate America won't tolerate.

Especially when you get caught lying about it on camera.

Every hotel chain in America just got a lesson about what happens when you pick the wrong side of Trump's immigration crackdown.

Hilton made sure that message came through loud and clear.
