George W. Bush just admitted the biggest mistake of his life and no one knew what to say
Former President George W. Bush actually went there.
It was the gaffe of the century.
And George W. Bush just admitted the biggest mistake of his life and no one knew what to say.
Former President George W. Bush’s decision to invade Iraq was one of the biggest blunders in American history.
Thousands of Americans lost their lives and tens of thousands were wounded after Bush bought into the faulty intelligence that Saddam Hussein possessed weapons of mass destruction.
The Iraq War completely discredited the Republican establishment and Bush family as Democrats swept to landslide wins in the 2006 and 2008 elections, leaving Barack Obama as President and Democrats owning a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate.
Donald Trump won the 2016 election in large part by rejecting George W. Bush’s foreign policy of nation building and endless wars in the Middle East.
During a recent speech, Bush made the all-time Freudian slip by admitting to everyone once and for all that Trump was right and the invasion of Iraq was a mistake.
Bush was in the middle of slamming Russian President Vladimir Putin’s decision to invade – which he called “wholly unjustified and brutal” – but instead of saying Ukraine, he said Iraq.

Donald Trump Jr. slammed Bush for making this admission 19 years after launching the Iraq War.
“I wish he would have been this honest and critical of himself 20 years, countless lives, and trillions of dollars ago,” Trump Jr. posted on social media.
Bush’s follow up also caught people’s attention.
Former President Bush caught himself and corrected to say Putin invaded Ukraine, but then he said “Iraq, too,” giving the impression that nearly 20 years later he finally admitted that invading Iraq was a mistake.
the "iraq, too" seems notable here.

Finally, Bush joked that he was nearly 75 years old, which some took as self-deprecating humor that a senior moment caused him to mix up Ukraine and Iraq.
But it could also mean that entering his golden years, Bush can finally come clean about his decision to launch the Iraq War and come to grips with the consequences.
