Polls show Americans support Trump on immigration
In politics, the best defense is often a good offense.
Attacking your opponent at their perceived strength can often be the smart play.
In 2004 Democrats tried to run John Kerry as a war hero capable of assuming the role of Commander in Chief against President Bush during the Iraq War.
The Swift Boat Veterans for Truth exposed Kerry as a fabulist who exaggerated his war record and turned his back on the men he served with.
Debunking the myth Kerry and the media created about his Vietnam record proved pivotal in Bush’s victory.
Democrats and the media are trying the same tactic with President Trump on immigration.
CNN data analyst Harry Enten told host Kate Bolduan that a majority of Americans support President Trump’s crackdown on immigration.
“Why is that? Look at Trump’s net approval rating on immigration. Compare where we are now. Compare where we were at this point in his first term. In his first term he was under water at minus 12 points. Look at where he is today. He’s actually above water. This is one of his strongest issues at plus one point,” Enten began.
Enten showed that polls found on the issue of immigration just 14 percent of Americans thought the country was on the right track under Joe Biden.
“So, take a look here. This is on immigration. What track are we on? The right track or the wrong track? Look in December, look at the percentage who said we were on the wrong track, 62 percent of Americans when Joe Biden was in office, compared to just 14 percent who said that we were on the right track,” Enten added.
That number has now tripled under President Trump with more Americans thinking the country is on the right track with regards to immigration as President Trump sealed the southern border leading to historic low levels of immigration.
“Flash forward to April. Well, hello, 45 percent say we’re on the right track, compared to 42 percent who say we’re on the wrong track. So, in a big switcheroo from where we were back in January, the plurality of Americans say that the country is on the right track when it comes to immigration policy,” Enten continued.
Enten went on to say that “Americans like where we’re going on immigration policy under Donald Trump,” which is why Democrats and the media are bombarding the American people with lies about how Trump snatched a “Maryland father of 3” with no criminal record off the streets and deported him to a prison in El Salvador with no due process.
This is the case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, an illegal alien living in America since 2011 that two immigration judges ruled to be a member of MS-13.
Trump deported him to his home country.
Garcia is also an accused wife beater.
The media and Democrat Party are fighting to return Garcia to the United States because they don’t want any illegal aliens deported.
But the media falsehoods and sob stories about Garcia and the other illegal aliens who President Trump is deporting are all falling on deaf ears.
Enten showed that the number of Americans who want all illegal aliens deported shot up 18 points from 2016 to 58 percent today.
“Back in 2016, just 38 percent of voters wanted the government to try to deport all 11 million undocumented immigrants. Compare it to where we are in 2025, 56 percent, the majority, the American people have come a long way on this issue, much closer to Donald Trump,” Enten concluded.
