Donald Trump sent an anti-gun Judge scurrying under a rock with this tweet
The Democrats are not satisfied with incremental gun control.
Their loony base is demanding full repeal of the Second Amendment.
One anti-gun Judge called for its full repeal, but Trump shut him down with this one tweet.
Former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens made waves when he wrote a New York Times op-ed calling for the repeal of the Second Amendment.
“Concern that a national standing army might pose a threat to the security of the separate states led to the adoption of that amendment, which provides that “a well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.” Today that concern is a relic of the 18th century…
That simple but dramatic action would move Saturday’s marchers closer to their objective than any other possible reform. It would eliminate the only legal rule that protects sellers of firearms in the United States — unlike every other market in the world. It would make our schoolchildren safer than they have been since 2008 and honor the memories of the many, indeed far too many, victims of recent gun violence.”
Stevens is representing the views of a sizeable potion of the Democrats base.
A recent YouGov poll found 39 percent of Democrats – and 21 percent of all Americans – want to repeal the Second Amendment.
Trump responded via tweet and shut this nonsense down immediately.
THE SECOND AMENDMENT WILL NEVER BE REPEALED! As much as Democrats would like to see this happen, and despite the words yesterday of former Supreme Court Justice Stevens, NO WAY. We need more Republicans in 2018 and must ALWAYS hold the Supreme Court!
