Donald Trump just gave the most important reason to fill Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s seat
Donald Trump and Senate Republicans are pushing to confirm the President’s nominee to succeed Ruth Bader Ginsburg before the election.
Democrats and their allies in the Fake News Media are scheming to slow down the confirmation process.
And now Donald Trump just gave the most important reason to fill Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s seat.
Speaking to reporters at the White House, President Trump said the court needed nine justices because the election was likely to end up before the Supreme Court.
“I think this will end up in the Supreme Court,” the President told the press. “And I think it’s very important that we have nine justices, and I think the system is going to go very quickly. I’ll be submitting at five o’clock on Saturday the name of the person that I chose for the most important of all positions.”
The President added that this was likely to be the case because Republicans were largely united in their desire to confirm his nominee.
“I think we should go very quickly,” President Trump added. “You see the Republicans are very united.”
The President explained that Democrats were trying to pull a “scam” with the election and that the court could not afford a four to four deadlock.
“But in terms of time, we can go to January 20th, but I think it’s better if you go before the election because I think . . . this scam that the Democrats are pulling — it’s a scam — the scam will be before the United States Supreme Court,” President Trump continued.
Democrat judges in Michigan and Pennsylvania are rewriting state law to extend the window to count mail-in ballots.
Republicans are filing court challenges to these cases.
And they are likely to end up in front of the Supreme Court.
But if there are not nine justices, Chief Justice John Roberts will feel pressure to craft a compromise that benefits Joe Biden.
