Donald Trump is about to correct the worst mistake Barack Obama ever made
Barack Obama’s eight years in office were a disaster.
But one error stood out above the rest.
And Donald Trump is about to correct the worst mistake Barack Obama ever made.
Donald Trump won the Presidency in part by campaigning against the endless wars in the Middle East fought by both George W. Bush and Barack Obama.
Trump – unlike Obama – pledged to put “America First” in his foreign policy.
Key to that effort was ending the 18-year-long war in Afghanistan, which is now the nation’s longest conflict.
Trump’s been in negotiations with the Taliban to end the war and bring America’s troops home and news broke Monday that those talks will continue to proceed on schedule.
“The U.S. agreed to withdraw its troops from Afghanistan and resolve the Afghan issue peacefully,” Suhail Shaheen, the Taliban’s chief spokesperson, told Turkey’s state-run Anadolu Agency (AA) on Monday.
Shaheen refused to elaborate on the timeline for the withdrawal of U.S. forces.
Zabihullah Mujahid, another Taliban spokesman, told Voice of America (VOA) on Saturday that negotiators are fleshing out the details of a mechanism for pulling out U.S.-led foreign forces from Afghanistan.
Inshallah [God willing], this time we are hopeful that each and every thing will be finalized. Work is underway to streamline the mechanism, but there is no such sticking point left that is not agreeable.
Barack Obama lied during the 2008 campaign that he would end America’s involvement in Middle East conflict.
That promise proved to be as phony as “if you like your doctor you can keep your doctor.”
Donald Trump has a chance to make good on his promise and end Barack Obama’s biggest mistake.
