Donald Trump has a nasty surprise for China that is going to have all hell breaking loose
Donald Trump ran for President in large part to confront China.
As President, he’s tried to make good on that pledge.
Now Donald Trump has a nasty surprise forChina that is going to have all hell breaking loose.
President Trump focused his China policy on renegotiating trade deals that ripped off American workers and industries and only benefited China.
His administration also took on Chinese technology companies like ZTE and Huwei as national security threats.
And in an interview with Laura Ingraham, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo revealed the administration was considering banning the Chinese social media app TikTok.
“Laura, your viewers should know we’re taking this very seriously. We’re certainly looking at it. We’ve worked on this very issue for a long time, whether it was the problems of having Huawei technology in your infrastructure — we’ve gone all over the world and we’re making real progress getting that out. We declared ZTE a danger to American national security. We’ve done all of these things. With respect to Chinese apps on people’s cell phones, I can assure you, the United States will get this one right too, Laura. I don’t want to get out in front of the president, but it’s something we’re looking at.”
TikTok may seem harmless.
Videos of Americans dancing on the app spread like wildfire across social media.
But critics contend the app spies on users and transmits Americans’ personal data directly to Chinese Communist Party government.
India – which the Trump administration has tried to court as a regional ally to check China’s rise – recently banned TikTok.
Many Americans believe the Trump administration should follow suit.
And it was welcome news to hear Secretary of State Pompeo announce the administration was considering a similar measure.
