CNN “forbids” Chris Cuomo from covering his brother as New York’s nursing home scandal spirals out of control

The hypocrisy of the liberal media has been on display countless times.

We seemingly cannot go a day without these so-called “journalists” contradicting themselves or living by different rules than they put in place for others.

The latest example of this comes from CNN, who claims they have now “banned” host Chris Cuomo from covering his brother as New York’s nursing home scandal grows.

As COVID-19 found its way to America and began to ravage major cities, CNN primetime host Chris Cuomo began to interview his New York Governor brother, Andrew, on a rather regular basis.

On more than 10 occasions, Governor Cuomo came onto his brother’s show and was provided ample opportunity to distract the people of New York, and the rest of the country, from his blatantly disastrous handling of the virus.

These interviews served to humanize the Governor, as he and his brother joked and picked on one another as siblings will do, and routinely went viral on social media, boosting the Governor’s approval rating at a time when tens of thousands of New Yorkers were dying on his watch.

Interestingly, though, those appearances and coverage by Chris Cuomo on his CNN primetime show have suddenly come to a halt amid the growing scandal surrounding the Governor’s cover-up of COVID-related nursing home deaths in the state.

According to the New York Post, Secretary to the Governor Melissa DeRosa recently admitted on a conference call with lawmakers that the Cuomo administration withheld the true death toll among nursing home residents for fear it would be “used against us” by federal prosecutors.

That admission, and the Governor’s subsequent denial that there was any wrongdoing by his administration has become a major, national scandal that has been covered by every news outlet, including CNN.

In fact, the only show that didn’t cover the scandal was that of Chris Cuomo, who is now completely avoiding any mention of his brother or the coverup.

The stark contrast between Chris Cuomo’s silence on the matter and his 2020 coverage of his brother has also landed CNN and the host in hot water.

But, as we all know, the far-left media is absolutely shameless, and to prove just that CNN is now providing Chris Cuomo with ample cover in order to protect him from the criticism he’s facing for avoiding any mention of his brother’s scandal after almost an entire year of fawning coverage.

CNN claimed this week that they have “reinstated” a ban on Chris Cuomo covering or interviewing his brother that was, for some reason, only lifted at the start of COVID.

“The early months of the pandemic crisis were an extraordinary time,” CNN said in a statement defending Chris Cuomo. “We felt that Chris speaking with his brother about the challenges of what millions of American families were struggling with was of significant human interest.”

“As a result, we made an exception to a rule that we have had in place since 2013 which prevents Chris from interviewing and covering his brother, and that rule remains in place today,” the statement continued. “CNN has covered the news surrounding Governor Cuomo extensively.”

Quite frankly, even if this so-called “ban” ever existed in the first place, this is nothing but CNN’s attempt to provide cover for Chris Cuomo from the onslaught of criticism he’s currently facing.

On top of the fact that CNN never mentioned this supposed “ban” until Chris was under fire, CNN’s statement would lead most to believe that the one-on-one interviews were the extent of the coverage Governor Cuomo was provided by his brother.

Throughout 2020, Chris Cuomo took countless opportunities to protect his brother against claims he was doing anything but a phenomenal job handling the issues in New York, which were far worse than almost any other state in the nation.

Back in October, Chris Cuomo got into a heated exchange with Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) over his brother’s handling of the situation in New York, particularly Governor Cuomo’s deadly decision to force nursing homes to accept COVID-positive patients – a decision that obviously led to even more nursing home deaths and the Governor’s coverup.

“There is something disgusting that Democrats are doing, that Joe Biden does and that you do, which is you try to blame the people who’ve lost their lives on your political enemies,” Cruz argued. “It’s particularly not right when your brother has presided over the state with the highest death rate in the country.”

“Was it a mistake when your brother implemented a policy that nursing homes had to accept COVID-positive patients and endanger the lives of tens of thousands of seniors in New York state?”

As a family member will do when they’re protecting one of their own from something they know they’re guilty of, Chris Cuomo refused to give Senator Cruz a yes-or-no answer.

“My brother was the first one to say that there was a learning curve and that mistakes were made and that they changed things as soon as they could,” Chris Cuomo said.

“So the nursing homes was the sum total of the entire problem in the country? That’s what it was?” Cuomo fired back at Cruz.

“It led to New York having 33,000 deaths compared to Texas having 15,000 deaths, and Texas has 50 percent more population than New York does,” countered Cruz. “Tell your brother to get on it.”

So not only did Chris Cuomo provide his brother with overwhelmingly positive interviews, but he also provided Governor Cuomo with ample cover from the scandal he is now embroiled in currently.

CNN’s assertion that it was appropriate for Chris Cuomo to cover his brother throughout the height of the pandemic, a time when the Governor was viewed favorably almost exclusively because of his brother and the rest of the so-called “mainstream” media’s fawning coverage, but not when he’s involved in a major scandal that Chris previously tried to spin in his brother’s favor, is laughable.

And to make matters even worse, CNN has also refused to answer questions from the New York Post on when the supposed ban was actually reinstated, meaning it likely was only put in place once Chris Cuomo refused to cover his brother’s coverup.

The network was fully aware of the conflict of interest involved in Chris Cuomo covering Governor Cuomo throughout 2020, yet it didn’t matter until there was a scandal big enough to cause them, and one of their biggest names, problems.

But that’s CNN and the rest of the “mainstream” media for you, always doing whatever it takes to protect their far-left allies.

Even if it proves that they’ve been hypocrites all along.
