Chuck Schumer scrambled into damage control mode after suffering this stinging defeat

Democrats feared this day would come.

And their worst nightmare just came true.

Now Chuck Schumer scrambled into damage control mode after suffering this stinging defeat.

Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats tried to stuff a massive amnesty program for up to ten million illegal aliens into a $3.5 trillion-dollar Green New Deal and socialist welfare program spending bill.

That plan ran aground thanks to Senate Parliamentarian Elizabeth McDonough.

Since Democrats are using the reconciliation process to pass this bill with just 51 votes, everything in the bill must have an effect on the budget.

McDonough ruled that the mass amnesty program “is by any standard a broad, new immigration policy” that overshadows any changes to the federal budget that would occur once illegal aliens began receiving welfare payments following the amnesty provisions granting them citizenship.

“Many undocumented persons live and work in the shadows of our society out of fear of deportation,” McDonough added that amnesty would grant illegal aliens “freedom to work, freedom to travel, freedom to live openly in our society in any state in the nation, and to reunite with their families and it would make them eligible, in time, to apply for citizenship — things for which there is no federal fiscal equivalent.”

McDonough wrote that the amnesty provision “is [a] tremendous and enduring policy change that dwarfs its budgetary impact.”

Chuck Schumer ranted about McDonough’s decision since it deprived Democrats of their chance of creating as many as ten million new voters.

“We are deeply disappointed in this decision but the fight to provide lawful status for immigrants in budget reconciliation continues. We will continue fighting to pursue the best path forward to grant them the ability to obtain lawful status,” Schumer posed on Twitter.
