Biden-era rhetoric just came back to haunt sanctuary city Democrats in the worst way

The Left spent years attacking Immigration and Customs Enforcement as modern-day Nazis.
They told illegal aliens to resist arrest and compared federal officers to the Gestapo.
And Biden-era rhetoric just came back to haunt sanctuary city Democrats in the worst way.
Democrats' reckless attacks on ICE created a crisis
New data from the Department of Homeland Security reveals the deadly consequences of years of inflammatory rhetoric from Democrat politicians and sanctuary city leaders.
Assaults on ICE officers have exploded by more than 1,150% in 2025 compared to the same period last year.
Between January 21 and November 21, ICE personnel were attacked 238 times — up from just 19 assaults during the identical timeframe in 2024.¹
The violence isn't random.
It's the direct result of Democrats spending years telling illegal aliens that ICE agents are the enemy — comparing them to slave patrols, Nazis, and concentration camp guards.
"Sanctuary politicians need to tone the rhetoric down before a law enforcement officer is killed," Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin warned.²
These aren't just statistics.
One ICE officer required 13 stitches after getting struck in the face with a metal coffee cup.
Another suffered a concussion during a violent assault while trying to arrest a criminal illegal alien.
Officers have been shot at, had Molotov cocktails thrown at them, been hit by cars deliberately, and attacked with rocks.³
The attacks keep getting more organized and more deadly
What started as individual acts of resistance has escalated into coordinated ambushes.
In September, Guatemalan national Henry Isaul Garcia allegedly reversed his car into an ICE agent's leg in Homestead, Florida, nearly crushing the officer during an arrest attempt.⁴
On the Fourth of July, former Marine reservist Benjamin Hanil Song was part of what authorities described as an organized ambush at the Prairieland Detention Center.
At least 10 individuals opened fire on federal personnel in what appeared to be a planned attack.⁵
In June near Los Angeles International Airport, fugitive Eric Anthony Rodriguez — with convictions for assault with a deadly weapon and robbery — allegedly tried to attack officers with a Molotov cocktail at a hotel housing 15 ICE and 12 CBP officers.⁶
"These nationwide incidents show how ICE officers are being targeted because of the badge they wear, not just the enforcement operations they execute on behalf of the American people," DHS stated.⁷
McLaughlin didn't mince words about who bears responsibility.
"After months of Democrat politicians comparing ICE to Nazis, the Gestapo, slave patrols, and even encouraging illegal aliens to resist arrest, our brave ICE law enforcement officers have been assaulted 238 times."⁸
She pointed out the obvious hypocrisy.
"They should be thanking these brave law enforcement officers who risk their lives every single day to arrest pedophiles, rapists, murderers, gang members, and terrorists from our neighborhoods."⁹
Look, here's what makes this so dangerous.
The Department of Homeland Security warned that these attacks "amount to an attack on the rule of law itself."¹⁰
When politicians spend years demonizing federal law enforcement, they're not just engaging in political rhetoric — they're painting targets on the backs of men and women doing one of the toughest jobs in America.
Every sanctuary city mayor who compared ICE to Nazis, every progressive member of Congress who called for abolishing the agency, every activist who told illegal aliens to resist arrest — they all share responsibility for this 1,150% explosion in violence.
The Trump Administration is right to demand accountability.
These officers aren't rounding up innocent families.
They're arresting violent criminals, sex offenders, gang members, and terrorists who entered this country illegally and then committed additional crimes.
Democrats created this crisis with their reckless rhetoric.
Now ICE officers are paying the price in blood.
