Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez sent Nancy Pelosi a message that turned Washington, D.C. upside down
One of the biggest fights in American politics is about to break out.
There could be a Civil War in the Democrat Party.
That’s because Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez sent Nancy Pelosi a message that turned Washington, D.C. upside down.
Nancy Pelosi has a problem on her hands.
Pelosi is trying to pass a trillion-dollar Trojan horse infrastructure bill and a $3.5 trillion socialist spending bill by linking the two together.
Democrats bet that the only way to hold their coalition in the House and Senate is to tie the bipartisan infrastructure bill to the multi-trillion dollar spending bill drafted by socialist Senator Bernie Sanders.
Moderate Democrats – though – are panicking about the rising concerns about inflation and wrote a letter to Pelosi urging her to untie the bills and immediately vote on the infrastructure bill once the Senate passes it sometime this week.
That letter set off Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez who posted an ultimatum on social media essentially threatening to tank the infrastructure bill by voting against it if Pelosi delinks the two spending bills.
War was bipartisan.
Tax cuts for the rich were bipartisan.
Wall St bailouts were bipartisan.
Fossil fuel giveaways were/are bipartisan.
Just because something is “bipartisan” doesn’t make it intrinsically good for people or worthy of passage. Substance matters.

Pelosi can only afford to lose around four votes before a bill gets voted down.
If Ocasio-Cortez and her fellow squad members hold firm, Pelosi cannot hold a separate vote on the infrastructure bill because Ocasio-Cortez and her allies hold enough votes to join Republicans and vote no on the bill and kill it.
But should Pelosi maintain her current course, moderate Democrats nervous about the 2022 outlook could vote down the $3.5 trillion Green New Deal-style spending bill out of concerns they will face attacks over the tax increases in the bill and the resulting inflation.
