Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said one word that just destroyed the Democrat Party
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez did it again.
The controversial freshmen Democrat continued her attacks on America.
And she just said the one word that may have just destroyed the Democrat Party.
Ocasio-Cortez was the big star of the South by Southwest technology festival.
Her appearance was classic Ocasio-Cortez.
And by that it means she generated all sorts of negative headlines with gaffes and embarrassing comments.
The biggest crisis she created was when she said capitalism was “irredeemable.”
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) said during a Saturday interview at the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas, that the ideology of capitalism is “irredeemable.”
“Capitalism is an ideology of capital — the most important thing is the concentration of capital and to seek and maximize profit,” Ocasio-Cortez said during the interview, before making the argument that capitalism is destructive because it aims to hurt people and the environment.
“To me, capitalism is irredeemable,” she added.
The self-described Democratic socialist then told the audience that they “should be scared” about corporations taking over the government:
Polls show Democrats are embracing the “socialism” label.
However, this is a fringe position in American politics.
A recent NBC poll found just 18 percent of Americans viewed socialism favorably compared with 50 percent that approved of capitalism.
That same poll also showed that the American people judged “socialist” to be one of the most negative characteristics about a presidential candidate.
Given Ocasio-Cortez’s support with the Democrat Party base, her attack on capitalism and support for socialism guarantees that the Democrat nominee is anchored to a politically toxic ideology.
