A top star at Fox News just revealed what Republicans say in private about Donald Trump

Donald Trump is still the leader of the Republican Party.

But not everyone is happy about that fact.

And this top star at Fox News just revealed what Republicans say in private about Donald Trump.

Establishment Republicans from the Mitt Romney/George W. Bush/John McCain RINO wing of the GOP still want Donald Trump to go away.

Behind closed doors, establishment RINOs are hoping Nancy Pelosi’s January 6 witch hunt committee does their dirty work for them and takes out Donald Trump.

Fox News senior political analyst Brit Hume was asked by Special Report host Brett Baier if the January 6 Committee was trying to pressure the Justice Department to indict Donald Trump, or if the Committee hoped that the hearings would damage Trump’s chances to run for re-election in 2024.

Hume responded that it was all of the above.

“Well, I think they’re doing both,” Hume answered. “Jamie Raskin, one of the Committee members, has said, you know, part of what they’re doing is to create something that can be referred to the Justice Department for possible prosecution.”

Hume added that many Republicans – including those harboring White House ambitions in 2024 – secretly hoped the Committee succeeded in knocking Trump out of Presidential contention.

“What strikes me about this, Bret, is that if they succeed – either by damaging him or staining him such that he is either unable or for legal or for political reasons to run again – they might end up finding out that they’ve done the Republican Party a great service, because I think a great many Republicans think they can’t win with Trump at the head of the ticket again. They are afraid of his supporters and don’t want to come out against him directly. But they’d like him to go away. If the effect of this Committee is to make his possible candidacy go away, I think a great many Republicans would privately be very glad,” Hume stated.

Hume stating that Trump can’t win in 2024 was also part of an editorial decision by Rupert Murdoch-owned media entities coming out of the January 6 hearings.

Both the Wall Street Journal and the New York Post – which are also owned by Murdoch – published blistering editorials blaming Trump for the events of January 6 and all but wishing he would drop any plans to run for President in 2024.

That does not appear to be the tact Trump is taking.

And if Trump runs again in 2024, will Murdoch-owned media outlets turn on him?
