A new poll showed Democrats’ attacks on Kavanaugh backfired in a big way
Democrats thought they found the silver bullet.
They thought dredging up dubious #MeToo allegations from three decades ago would stop Judge Kavanaugh’s confirmation to the Supreme Court.
But a new poll just revealed everything didn’t go according to their plan.
The liberal Huffington Post teamed up with YouGov to poll Americans on the Judge Kavanaugh’s confirmation.
They asked if the Christine Blasey Ford’s allegations of sexual misconduct against Kavanaugh in high school had any bearing on whether he should be confirmed.
Only 26 percent said they believed Ford’s allegations were “credible.”
The Daily Caller reports:
The Huffington Post released new polling showing that the American public doesn’t generally believe Brett Kavanaugh’s accuser is credible. The same poll also showed that more men than women believe she is credible.
The study found that the sexual misconduct allegation against Kavanaugh has had “virtually no effect on public support for his nomination.” 35 percent of those polled that they’ve heard a lot about the accusations even after wall-to-wall coverage by national media over multiple days. “Fewer than a quarter of respondents to the latest HuffPost/YouGov survey say they’re following Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearings very closely,” the study found.
The HuffPost/YouGov polling asked a statistically significant cross-section of the American public if the accusations made by Christine Blasey Ford were “credible. “Do you think that the allegation of sexual assault against Brett Kavanaugh generally is or is not credible?” The polling asked. The responses showed that 28% of males and 25% of females believe the allegations are credible.
In cases like these, poll respondents will often select the more “politically correct” answer, even if they don’t believe it.
That’s one reason Donald Trump outperformed the polls on election night in 2016.
Americans are seeing right through the Democrats’ political stunts.
Senate Democrats and the national media thought smearing Kavanaugh with the #MeToo label would put the nail in the coffin.
But this poll reveals their attacks have fallen flat on their face.
Many Americans voted for President Trump because they did not want Hillary Clinton nominating the next Supreme Court Justices.
Democrats are playing with fire if they think this is a good strategy going into the Midterm elections.
