The British Royal Family has long been tabloid fodder.

Their secrets are the stuff of legends.

And a bombshell book revealed the one moment the British Royal Family changed forever.

Book tells the story of how Princess Kate Middleton and Prince William got together

Royal historian Robert Lacey wrote in his book, Battle of Brothers: William and Harry – The Inside Story of a Family in Tumult, that Kate Middleton changed universities to pursue Prince William.

Lacey wrote that even though Middleton got accepted into Edinburgh, one of England’s top Universities, she opted to go to the lesser regarded St. Andrew’s because that’s where Prince William was set to attend.

“Kate was very strategic. She gave up her place at one of Britain’s premier universities, Edinburgh, and opted for another one [St. Andrews] that probably didn’t have the same academic standard,” Lacey wrote.

Lacey wrote that she went so far as to leave Edinburgh even though her living accommodations were all set, delay her starting university by a year, and switching her major all to pursue Prince William.

“She had already been to Edinburgh to get her flat accommodations sorted out but switched universities and switched her courses to history of art because that was William’s. She delayed her own education by a year and even takes the chance she won’t get into St. Andrews,” Lacey added.

How Prince William and Kate Middleton met

Middleton stunned Prince William when she walked the runway at a student charity fashion show.

During her walk, she stripped off one layer of clothing to reveal a see-through dress that left Prince William in awe of her physique.

‘Wow, Kate’s hot,” Lacey wrote Prince William exclaiming when he saw her.

This dress turned into an iconic piece of British fashion.

It later sold for 78,000 pounds at auction.

But the dress, which cost 30 pounds to make, sat in the closet of the designer’s mother’s house for years before being rediscovered.

The designer, a woman named Charlotte who never pursued a career in the fashion industry, said Kate Middleton ending up in that dress was just the luck of the draw.

“I didn’t know who Kate Middleton was and I didn’t put her in it. It was just pure chance,” Charlotte told the Daily Mail.

“I made it as a skirt, but others pulled it up on Kate and she wore it as a dress. Maybe if it hadn’t been see-through, William might not have noticed her.” Charlotte added.

Charlotte is proud of her role in changing the fortunes of the Royal Family.

This dress helped create the moment when Prince William knew he needed to pursue Kate Middleton.

“The dress is a part of fashion history – the moment William could first have fallen in love with Kate – and that makes me really proud. That picture has been used so much over the years. I always wonder whether Kate is embarrassed about it, or liked it,” Charlotte added.
