47 Republicans just stabbed Clarence Thomas in the back in this awful way
Trump supporters were not happy.
The establishment betrayed them again.
And now 47 Republicans just stabbed Clarence Thomas in the back in this awful way.
Justice Thomas authored a concurring opinion in the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision – which overturned Roe v. Wade – attacking the left-wing concept of substantive due process.
Substantive due process holds that the Court can invent Constitutional rights that are not explicitly written into the Constitution.
In his concurring opinion, Justice Thomas wrote that the Court should re-examine cases like the one mandating homosexual marriage to determine if a different part of the Constitution authorized the supposed “right” to gay marriage.
In response, Democrats brought the so-called “Respect for Marriage Act” to the floor of the House of Representatives.
This power grab would codify homosexual marriage into law to protect it from a Supreme Court challenge that currently does not exist.
The Respect for Marriage Act reads:
This bill provides statutory authority for same-sex and interracial marriages.
Specifically, the bill repeals and replaces provisions that define, for purposes of federal law, marriage as between a man and a woman and spouse as a person of the opposite sex with provisions that recognize any marriage that is valid under state law. (The Supreme Court held that the current provisions were unconstitutional in United States v. Windsor in 2013.)
The bill also repeals and replaces provisions that do not require states to recognize same-sex marriages from other states with provisions that prohibit the denial of full faith and credit or any right or claim relating to out-of-state marriages on the basis of sex, race, ethnicity, or national origin…. The bill allows the Department of Justice to bring a civil action and establishes a private right of action for violations.
47 Republicans joined every single Democrat in voting for the federal government to repeal the statutory definition of marriage as between a man and a woman.
Conservatives were appalled that 47 Republicans would erase over two thousand years of human history to help Democrats impose their woke social agenda on America.
In 2016, Republican voters turned to Donald Trump because it became clear that the GOP establishment actually agreed with the Democrats on cultural issues.
47 Republican members of Congress siding with the Democrats over Clarence Thomas is an easy way to make sure Donald Trump remains the leader of the GOP base.
